About us

Surian Seed: HBCU Superheroes -- a high-concept movie project under the auspices of Morehouse College Graduates Maurice Mander, Adisa Iwa, Ronald Sullivan, and Raynal “Shaka” Harris, Jr. – tells the story of superheroes who matriculated on various campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with powers that cannot be mistaken or overlooked poised to save the world from itself.

With the conversation of racial issues in the wake of the George Floyd murder and the extended overdue state of African-American recognition in the animation world, Surian Seed bridges that gap. It is a world of superhumans where Variants, who carry a gene that makes them so, and humans must learn to live together.

Isaiah, a 21-year-old, Morehouse-educated high school teacher, awakens to learn he has acquired superpowers. Within days, his siblings reveal they have special abilities too. As they assume secret identities to unleash their skills to fight crime, they become the targets of criminals and hidden terrors in their city. They have also unknowingly incurred the wrath of a specialized combat race of aliens called Surrians, from whom their powers emanate. Now, Isaiah and his siblings’ very existence has put Earth in peril, and everything they believed to be true about their family unravels.
